12 Black owned make up brands you need to know

More than the B.O.M.B challenge ( Black Owned Make Up Brands ) , let’s dig up some black-owned make up brands that you need to know. This list is in no particular order, and features some well-known brands on the internet, as well new brands  that are independent. I’ve already mentionned Beauty Bakerie in another article that’s why it’s not on the list. Let’s go.


  • Juvia’s Place 

Juvia’s place was founded by a Nigerian entrepreneur Chichi Eburu and has risen to the global scene with the Masquerade, Saharian palette. I first was introduced to Juvia’s Place on Youtube and on Instagram. You can purchase Juvia’s Place here ( Be quick it’s always sold out ! )


  • Magnolia Make Up 

    Magnolia Make Up is a New Orleans based company, which is all about quality and colour. You can check them here



  • Danessa Myricks 

Danessa  Myricks, a make-up artist, a photographer now has her own brand and it’s poppin’ especially for women of color. Bring your inner artistry to Danessa Myricks and you can purchase here 


  • Real B Cosmetics

If you’re all about lipsticks this brand is for you. Real B Cosmetics is a UK based brand which has been getting hype on Instagram. Shop Real B Cosmetics

  • Maréna Beauté

Maréna Beauté, is a UK-based makeup company which focuses on darker complexion. Get a peak at Maréna Beauté


  • Coloured Raine

This brand is based in Canada and has been slaying Instagram, Youtube and the whole internet for a while. From the lipsticks, to the eyeshadows palette everything is on point ! You can shop products from Coloured Raine that have been rocked from your fave celebs even Rihanna !


  • Kisiwe 

Kisiwe is a small makeup company based in Montréal. As the brand has developed they will be launching new concealers on May 30 ! No link for the website yet, but you can check their Instagram page for more info.


  • Vault Cosmetics 

Vault Cosmetics is a brand from the motherland ( yaaassss ! ); affordable and especially from Zimbabwe created by Jackie Mgido.


  • Lenalashes

Lena Lashes  was started by a youtuber : Marlene Aymone with a couple of dollars in her name. She figured she had to pursue her dreams even though some people  (including her husband ) didn’t believe in her. From lipsticks to her widely known lashes she is the queen of packaging !  You can shop Lena Lashes products here


  • MDM Flow 

Another UK-based brand started by a WOC ( Women Of Color ) , a Nigerian cosmetic science student at London College of Fashion. MDM Flow was born and provides a wide array of lippies.


  • Zaron Cosmetics

All the way from Nigeria, Zaron cosmetics has been the authority for makeup in Lagos. While it was founded in Leeds ( UK ) in 2010 it is only sold through the main office in Lagos and across locations in Africa.


  • Bold Make Up

Bold Make Up is our last feature on this article and it’s Cameroonian brand, yes, another one from Africa. Their collection goes from foundation to lipsticks and they are also into make-up academy. Check them out here
